MALS-Leadership and Management & International Business Research Assistant
This position provides a tuition scholarship (up to $3,450) and a stipend of $2,660 for the 2008-2009 academic year. It requires a 10-hour-per-week commitment.
Position Description:
The graduate assistant would interact with faculty, administration, community representatives, graduate and undergraduate students and technicians to meet the needs of the programs and faculty. The graduate student serving as assistant would be someone seeking experience in learning and implementing marketing efforts in student recruitment, managing and updating administrative databases, and supporting faculty with designing instructional materials and providing technical and instructional support.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Providing specific assistance to the SUNY Plattsburgh Coordinator of the Masters of Liberal Studies - Leadership, and Management and International Business faculty at the Branch Campus at ACC for student recruitment.
- Implementing student recruitment plans, including researching and planning for multi-media promotions, special events and coordination opportunities with organizational partners in the region.
- Researching and creating an effective method of communication outreach to MALS and MIB current students and alumni in support of student recruitment
- Developing and managing MALS and MGM adjunct faculty vitae bank and regional company partner database.
- Provide assistance to faculty with on-line course material preparation for Research Methods and Writing course, and providing technical research support as needed for students and faculty.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would be a student of the MALS-Leadership graduate studies program. Candidates from other Masters programs will be considered. Background in the following is desirable:
- Marketing and event planning
- Public Relations
- Design of marketing and presentation materials
- Preparation of on-line instructional materials
- Familiarity with SPSS helpful
This position will report directly to the Coordinator of the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies - Leadership and work closely with the faculty teaching in the MALS-Leadership and Management and International Business programs at the Branch Campus at ACC. The student will develop, manage, and complete marketing projects for recruitment of graduate and undergraduate students in collaboration with respective SUNY Plattsburgh Admissions offices, and in coordination with Branch Campus marketing efforts.
