Frequently Asked Questions for Out-of-State Students
Will I be at a competitive disadvantage in gaining admission?
Applicants residing outside of New York State are at no competitive disadvantage in the admissions process. We place a high value on diversity, including students from different backgrounds and from different geographic regions. We do not have quotas as to how many students we can admit from out-of-state, nor do we have quotas mandating the number of students we must admit from New York State. In fact, we even offer a special $2,500 housing grant to qualified non-New York State residents to lower their cost of attendance.
How much will it cost for me to attend as an out-of-state student?
The estimated 2006-2007 annual cost for a non-New York resident living on campus to attend Plattsburgh is as follows:
- Tuition: $10,300
- Fees: $988
- Room: $4,800
- Board: $2,780
- Total = $19,178
- Minus the Out-of-State Housing Grant: -$2,500
- Total Billed Amount = $16,678
- Estimates for books, transportation, expenses, etc: $2,770
- Total cost of attendance = $19,448
Note: The Out-of-State Housing Grant is available for all four years based on a 2.0 G.P.A. and on-campus housing.
Are scholarships available to out-of-state students?
Merit-based scholarships are available to all students regardless of their state residency. We also offer a special $2,500 housing grant to qualified non-New York State residents to lower their cost of attendance.
