Freshman Admissions Advisor
Hey there! My name is Jessica Caldwell and I am a Freshman Admissions Advisor at SUNY Plattsburgh. I am responsible for coordinating the Presidential Scholar applicant pool and implementing a Scholar's Weekend Program each Spring semester. I also interview prospective students, review freshman applications, and recruit primarily in the Albany/Connecticut area. Please feel free to touch base with me if you have any questions or concerns about the admissions process or about Plattsburgh in general. I'm happy to help.
Hometown: Plattsburgh, NY
Professional/Personal Biography: A native of Plattsburgh, I graduated high school locally from Beekmantown Central School in 2003. In 2007, I graduated from Ithaca College with a B.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications and minors in Speech Communication and Women's Studies. During my time at Ithaca, I worked as a Marketing Intern for the Ithaca College Fitness Center promoting their Personal Training and Nutrition programs. I also spent last summer abroad in London interning as a Marketing Director at Suzanne's Files, promoting the services of elite destinations, resorts, and niche experiences.
I am so excited to be back working locally and sharing all that the college and the community has to offer. It's a one-of-a-kind place that I am proud to call home.
Most Memorable College Experience: Choreographing and dancing anything from hip hop to Irish clogging in Ithaca's Unbound Dance Company. It gave me an amazing opportunity to learn about different styles of expression, test my creativity, and make lifelong friends in the process.
Favorite Plattsburgh State Activity: I'd have to say attending the hockey and softball games. With such talent, there's never a dull moment!
Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone entering college: Number one: Step out of the box! Try something you've always wanted to do but never had the chance to. You'll learn something about yourself and possibly discover a new passion. Number two: Get to know your professors! They are terrific resources; they can help guide you in the right direction academically and professionally, and are amazing sources of inspiration.
