Why UG?
UG's summer programs are great if you do not want to or can't spend an entire semester in Mexico, but would still like the opportunity to learn Spanish for awhile in a native-speaking environment. Each year we see more students take advantage of this opportunity.
- Term:
Summer, five and two-week sessions
- Two Week Sessions All Summer
- Five Week Session I (June thru July )
- Five Week Session II (July thru August )
- Eligibility: be enrolled in a US college or university; minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Credits: Five-weeks sessions are worth 6 credits, and two-week sessions are worth 3 credits (undergraduate)
- Application Deadlines: March 15
How to Apply
You must submit both the SUNY Application and the Guadalajara CEPE Application to the SUNY Plattsburgh Global Education Office by the deadlines stated in the above section. NOTE: You do not have to submit the $100 fee asked for in the Guadalajara application. Please e-mail for copies at globaleducation@plattsburgh.edu. The 85.3kb SUNY Application PDF file requires the latest version of Acrobat Reader, which is available as a free download.
Courses at Guadalajara
Upon, you will take a placement exam to place you in courses with other students who have a similar level of Spanish proficiency as you. All courses are on the Spanish language only.
Accommodations
The Semester Abroad Fee you pay to SUNY Plattsburgh includes room and some board for the summer programs.You have two choices of housing: a guesthouse for international students (includes breakfast only) or home stays (includes three meals per day).For each option, you may also choose if you want a single or double room.
Location
The Universidad de Guadalajara is located in the state of Jalisco. Guadalajara is a modern city of over 3 million people. Jalisco is the home of the famous Mariachi band and the Mexican hat dance.

- New York State Residents: from $2365 to $2617 (depending on housing option)
- Non-New York State Residents: from $4153 to $3753 (depending on housing option)
- Includes:
- Application fee: $35 due when you apply
- Deposit: $200 due several weeks after accepted
- SUNY Tuition: $1086 for New York State Residents / $2658 for non New York State Residents
- Semester Abroad Fee:
- Home stay, single room w/3 meals a day: $1121
- Home stay double room w/3meals a day: $948
- Guesthouse single room w/ breakfast only: $1136
- Guesthouse double room w/breakfast only:$884
- Health Insurance: $160 for all students

Location: We are physically located at 102 Broad St. on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus, which is the brown house that sits at the corner of Broad and Beekman Streets across from the Kehoe Building.
