Why UCLAN?

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) is a unique blend of the historic and the hi-tech. Its proud history and traditions, dating back to 1828, can be traced through its impressive architecture. Approximately 22,000 students attend UCLAN. The University offers an extensive range of academic programs.

UCLAN's Preston campus is a modern green oasis in the heart of England's newest city. Getting about is easy - the bus and train stations are a short-walk from campus, which has a compact, friendly feel.

How to Apply

You must submit both the SUNY Application and the UCLAN Application (e-mail us to request a copy) to the SUNY Plattsburgh Global Education Office by the deadlines stated in the above section. (Note: the 85.3kb SUNY Application PDF file requires the latest version of Acrobat Reader, which is available as a free download. )

Courses at UCLAN

In England, courses are called "modules," and "courses" often mean the same thing as "majors" in the US. Unfortunately, UCLAN does not publish its modules and their descriptions online. You must e-mail the Global Education Office for an electronic copy of the UCLAN module catalog.

Accommodations

You will pay for your accommodations directly to UCLAN shortly after you arrive. You should note that UCLAN does not offer students formal meals plans as you are accustomed to receiving in the US. Their accommodations feature shared kitchen facilities where you can store and prepare your own food. There are also restaurants on campus where you may purchase meals and pay for them each time you dine there. To check out the types of accommodations available and cost information please visit UCLAN's Accommodations Website.

Location

The large population of UCLAN students has turned Preston into an energetic city with a buzzing nightlife and a growing arts scene, surrounded by pubs, clubs, and eateries that provide worldwide cuisine to cater for every palette. There's a range of entertainment venues, including the Guild Hall and Charter Theatre, providing year round entertainment, such as major sporting events, ballet, drama, concerts and much more.
