The University of Central Lancashire is a unique blend of the historic and the hi-tech. Its proud history and traditions, dating back to 1828, can be traced through its impressive architecture. Approximately 22,000 students attend UCLAN. The University offers an extensive range of academic programs.
UCLAN's Preston campus is a modern green oasis in the heart of England's newest city. Getting around Preston is very easy. The bus and train stations are a short walk from campus.
You must submit both the SUNY Application and the UCLAN Application to Study Abroad and Exchanges by the deadlines stated in the above section.
In England, courses are called "modules," and "courses" often mean the same thing as "majors" in the U.S. Some departments at UCLAN post module descriptions online (see links below). Please email geo@plattsburgh.edu with questions or to inquire about module descriptions that are not currently online. Please note that the campus timetable may not be finalized until a few days before the semester begins, so students may not know which modules they are taking until they arrive on campus.
You will pay for your accommodations directly to UCLAN. You should note that UCLAN does not offer students formal meals plans as you are accustomed to receiving in the U.S. Their accommodations feature shared kitchen facilities where you can store and prepare your own food. There are also restaurants on campus where you may purchase meals and pay for them each time. To check out the types of accommodations available and cost information please visit UCLAN's Accommodations Website.
The large population of UCLAN students has turned Preston into an energetic city with a buzzing nightlife and a growing arts scene. It is surrounded by pubs, clubs, and eateries that provide worldwide cuisine to cater for every palette. There's a range of entertainment venues, including the Guild Hall and Charter Theatre which, provide year round entertainment, such as major sporting events, ballet, drama, concerts and much more.
Please note that all fees are subject to change without notice.
