Bilbao has one of the cleanest and most efficient metro systems in Europe. In just forty minutes the visitor can travel from downtown Bilbao to the nearby lush green Basque coast. Transportation is easy and affordable in Spain. The location of Bilbao is a major plus, since the Cote Basque in Southern France in just about an hour from Bilbao. World-class tourist sites like Biarritz, San Sebastian and Pamplona (where the San Fermin festivals are held every July) are close by. The Basque Country is famous for the high quality of its food--some experts say that it is the best in Spain.
