Why Bond?
Bond University is Australia's first and largest private university. It emphasizes personalized instruction and innovative courses and teaching methods. Unlike most other Australian universities, Bond offers a 14 week semester system that corresponds to the typical academic year in the United States. Here are the important details you need to know to study at Bond University:
- Terms: Fall, Spring, Summer Semesters
- Eligibility: open to all students currently enrolled in a US college or university; minimum 2.5 GPA; minimum sophomore standing by the time of study in Australia
- Credits: 12-15 undergraduate per semester

How to Apply
You must submit both the SUNY Application and the Bond Application to the SUNY Plattsburgh Global Education Office by the deadlines stated in the above section. (Note: the 85.3kb SUNY Application PDF file requires the latest version of Acrobat Reader, which is available as a free download. )
Courses at Bond
You must take at least three courses, but no more than four per semester. Bond offers academic programs in Australian studies, business, communication and media studies, criminology, film and television, hospitality management, information technology, international business, Japanese, journalism, marketing, psychology, and sports management. You may find course (They call them "subjects") descriptions on Bond University's Website. (Please make sure you click "Display only Study Abroad subjects" at the bottom of the search page).
Accommodations
You reserve and pay for housing directly with Bond in Australian dollars. Plattsburgh will tell you what to do after you have been accepted. There is a $600 (Australian) deposit required at the time of reservation. Bond has several types of accommodations available to students, though not all types may be available. You must also purchase a meal plan. Plans range from 10 to 19 meals per week and cost between $1350 and $2150. Bond will also arrange for someone to pick you up at the Brisbane International or Coolangatta Airports. For more information, visit Bond University Student Residences.
Location
Bond is located in Gold Coast in Southeast Queensland, about an hour east of Brisbane (one of Australia's largest cities). The local climate is sub-tropical, and there is plenty of sunshine all year round. It currently represents the fastest growing region in Australia, and has a current population of 540,000. Please note: You will pay your Application Fee, Deposit, SUNY tuition, Semester Abroad Fee and Health Insurance to SUNY before you leave. You will pay your room and board to Bond as soon as you arrive in Australia.
