Our Physics Education Major Allows You To

Bachelor of Science (B.A.) in Physics Adolescence Education (7-12) (96 credits)
This program, sponsored by the Physics Department and the Department of Educational Studies and Services, is one of the options available to students who want to teach high school physics and science. (The others are to gain a B.A./B.S. in physics and then obtain a Master of Science in Teaching [M.S.T.] for teacher certification; or to apply for the new 5-year B.A. Physics/MST program). In addition to the General Education courses, the requirements include a 30 credit hour core of physics courses, an additional twelve credit hours in calculus, and four credit hours each in biology, chemistry, and either geology, astronomy, or meteorology. The 38 credit hour education component includes educational theory, methods, and student teaching, as well as the advanced writing requirement.
