Careers in Philosophy
Careers: What Can You Do After Graduation?
The philosophy program teaches you highly marketable skills, and provides a broad perspective on the world that will enable you to have a successful career. Philosophy provides a solid foundation for anyone planning to pursue an advanced professional degree in law, library science, education, divinity and theology, public administration, or business.
Most people with a bachelor's degree in philosophy have careers in education, business, government, public service, community activism, or some other profession. Some people practice philosophy in private enterprise and government, especially given the increasing concern with ethical questions in these areas. Some philosophy majors will pursue an advanced degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in philosophy or a related field such as English literature, history, anthropology, or computer science.
Whatever your career goals the philosophy program at Plattsburgh State is a great place to start. It provides the skills and education you need to succeed. If you have any questions about careers and philosophy, please feel free to contact any member of the department.
