About the Nutrition Program
What is Nutrition?
We believe that as the scope of dietetics broadens, teaching and learning activities provide a strong foundation in liberal arts and sciences, and technology and information literacy, as well as in foods, foodservice management, and in the scientific knowledge of nutrition.
We also believe that in order to assume professional leadership roles, our students must be socially responsible, articulate, confidant, flexible, and professionally ethical. Through the student dietetic club, service to the community and region is promoted.
The mission of the Didactic Program (D.P.D.) at Plattsburgh State University of New York is to graduate students who are successfully prepared to enter an internship, a graduate program, or employment in clinical, community, or foodservice settings.
The goals of the program are to:
- Prepare students who will obtain internships
- Prepare students not pursuing internships to receive employment in the field or attend graduate school
- Prepare graduates to pass the registered dietitian (R.D.) examination
- Maintain accreditation status
Outcome Measures:
- Students names accepted to internships will be reported by D&D Digital
- Employment, graduate, alumni and senior surveys will reveal professional/employment activity after graduation
- The American Dietetic Association (A.D.A.) will report the pass rate of the R.D. exam yearly
- Accreditation Status will be reported by the A.D.A.
