Background

Sarah began her career in nursing education as staff nurse educator at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, NH. Sarah worked with a team of educators to facilitate the transition of new graduate nurses into the critical care nursing through the Critical Care Nurse Residency program at DHMC. Sarah’s love for working with the new graduate nurses lead her to pursue a career in academia and a desire to move closer to family brought her to SUNY Plattsburgh.

Prior to these experiences Sarah had the honor of working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as an officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and as a staff nurse on various Medical/Surgical units with a focus on the neurosciences and critical care. She is currently a per diem staff nurse at a local community hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Sarah is currently attending the University of Vermont in pursuit of her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Academic Philosophy

I am committed to facilitating the best educational experience possible for the students at SUNY Plattsburgh. I strive to build a classroom environment online and face to face that is challenging yet supportive of the learner. The greatest joy in my role as an educator is working with the students to create learning activities that encourage them to be engaged in their learning. My goal as an educator is to be a “guide on the side” and challenge the learner so that they may uncover their own academic and personal potential.
