Nancy joined the Learning Center Staff in the Fall of 2010. Although she is a recent addition to the Learning Center staff, she already knows she is part of a wonderful team.
Nancy comes to the Learning Center from the Chemistry Department, where she teaches Introduction to Chemistry, Chemistry & Society, and Introduction to Organic & Biochemistry. She also teaches health related courses including BodyWorks: Heart Disease and Foundations of Personal Health.
Nancy enjoys working with students because she loves the give and take of ideas with our students. For students who are having difficulty with their coursework, Nancy works hard to get them to "think differently" about their approach to studying and helps them develop a "can do attitude." She wants students to see difficult coursework as a challenge rather than an obstacle to their success.
Everybody needs help in something. So we asked our professional staff to include what courses they would be tutored in.
"One of the most challenging courses I took as an undergraduate was Anatomy & Physiology. There was so much to remember and understand in such a short period of time. I would have loved some helpful hints or ideas for remembering the information in the endocrinology section. There are so many glands, hormones, and functions of each hormone to remember. In addition, we also needed to know how each hormone was regulated. It just made my head hurt."
