Adjunct Lecturer
Jack Downs is the design and systems editor at the Press-Republican
in Plattsburgh, where he oversees daily production duties, training and newsroom systems. After graduating from Cornell University in 1984, Downs started his journalism career as a general-assignment reporter at the Press-Republican.
Since then he has held a variety of reporting and editing positions. As the newspaper's first-ever design editor, Downs redesigned the paper in 1996 and 2002. He guided the paper into the world of digital production, first in Quark and now in InDesign.
