Phi Alpha Theta

Plattsburgh State's Alpha Gamma Alpha chapter of Phi Alpha Theta offers students opportunities to test their wings as historians.  Members have the chance to attend regional Phi Alpha Theta conferences, where they can present their research publicly, hear papers from history students around the region, and meet students with similar interests. In short, these conferences offer students the chance to enter a broader community of students of history.  Our chapter also engages in service to history students at Plattsburgh.  This past semester Phi Alpha Theta held a tutoring session for HIS 285 students and, along with the History Association, an academic advising session where PAT and HA members offered advice on CAPP reports and scheduling.

Requirements for membership are at least 12 credit hours completed in history classes, a GPA of 3.1 or higher in history classes, and a 3.0 or higher overall GPA.  You do not need to be a history major or minor to belong to Phi Alpha Theta.  Anyone with an interest in the study of history is welcome.
