Careers in History
Why Major in History?
Every history major graduates with a repertoire of skills in researching, critical thinking, and writing.
Training in history enables students to aquire researching skills for answering specific questions, both historical and contemporary, in a timely and efficient manner.
Students also learn to think critically about the nature of these resources, whether it be a document that redefines foreign diplomacy, a farmer's almanac, or a popular movie.
Finally, through writing-intensive classes, students develop the skills to report their findings of research and develop effective arguments. We live in an information age, and a history major gives students the tools to skillfully navigate through the modern world, no matter what course they choose to follow.
