Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography
The geography program provides a broad background in the fields of physical, cultural and regional geography and covers such subjects as cartography, computer mapping, GIS (geographic information systems), recreational and tourism, environmental conservation, urban planning, planning process, climatology, urban, economic and political geography. The skills courses are characterized by small classes, individualized instruction and excellent equipment.
Also, geography is involved in interdisciplinary programs, especially planning, Latin American and Canadian Studies. The major prepares students for graduate study in geography or for employment in a wide variety of government and business occupations, such as urban and regional planning, cartography, environmental management, computer mapping and surveying.
