Geography Field Work Opportunities at Plattsburgh State
The North Country Is Your Classroom
The spectacular environment of the Adirondack Mountains and Champlain Valley allow the study of Geography at the doorstep of Plattsburgh State University.
Courses such, as GEG 431 Recreational Land Use Planning spend much of the fall semester on field trips visiting recreational sites in the Adirondack Mountains and Champlain Valley.
Other courses that have a major component of field work include GEG 345/545 The Adirondacks: An Historical Geography and GEG 480/580 Recreational Environments of the Adirondacks. These courses allow students to visit old mining communities and ghost towns and state lands such as the St. Regis Canoe Area. The small size of these upper level courses allow a great deal of individual attention and discussion.
