Services

The Center offers a high-interest, motivational program to help children and adults develop a sense of themselves as readers and writers.

Instructional Materials

Instructional materials are provided for teacher candidates enrolled in SUNY Plattsburgh undergraduate and graduate courses.

Literacy Experiences and Tutoring for Children (Ages 4–high school)

Tutoring services are connected to courses in the M.S.Ed. Literacy program.
Tutoring will be conducted by graduate students under the direction and supervision of the Director of the Literacy Education Center.

Spring 2013 Practicum

• Day and General Dates:
  • Mondays, for children ages 4–Grade 12: one hour per week, 4:45–5:45 p.m., February 25th–April 22rd.*
• Fee: None

* There is no tutoring on March 18th (SUNY Spring Break) and on April 1st (School District Holiday).

Summer Literacy Camp

• Day and General Dates:
  • Session B: for children ages 4-Grade 12: M–F, 2 weeks, Morning Session: 9:00am-11:30am or Full Day Session: 9:00am-3:00pm. The program begins on July 8, 2013 and runs through July 19, 2013.
    * There is no tutoring on July 4th.
  • Location: Literacy Education Center, Sibley Hall (Rugar St. at Prospect Ave.), Room 332.
  • Fee (please see sliding scale for payments located on the registration form, 63kB PDF file):
    • Morning Session: $150;
    • Full Day Session: $250.
