Admissions Requirements
Spring Admissions Deadline
Interviews for admission are held in October following the application deadline of October 15th for the spring semester.
Persons who are applying for assistantships in residence hall positions must complete the application and interview process by April 1st for fall matriculation.
Fall Admissions Deadline
Interviews for admission are held in March following the application deadline of February 15th for the fall semester.
Requirements for admission include:
- Prerequisites of 12 credits in psychology or closely related areas and specific course work in life-span development, statistics and computers
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, as evidenced by an official
transcript - A minimum grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
- Scores above the 25th percentile on the Graduate Record Examination or the
Miller Analogies Test - Three letters of reference indicating candidate's ability and suitability to pursue graduate studies in counseling
- Satisfactory completion of a group activity, writing exercise, and interviews at Admissions Day
- Preference is given to applicants who have work or volunteer experience in activities related to counseling
