Associate Professor/Chair
Dr. Mohamed Gaber is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Accounting. Dr. Gaber earned the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2001. He has been teaching for the past thirty years in the United States and overseas. He has also worked as an Internal Auditor for a large land development corporation in the past.
Dr. Gaber earned his Bachelor Degree in Commerce and Finance from the Higher Institute of Commerce and a Masters of Science in Accounting from University of Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Gaber earned a Masters of Philosophy from the City University of New York. He also earned an M.B.A. and Ph.D. in Accounting (1985) from Baruch College of the City University of New York.
Dr. Gaber teaching interest encompasses several areas in accounting and finance including financial and managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, cost accounting, international accounting, financial statements analysis, and corporate financial management. Dr. Gaber also teaches a graduate course, Accounting for Management, at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Dr. Gaber's research interest is in corporate earnings forecasts, financial disclosure, and international accounting and harmonization process. Dr. Gaber's recent publications has appeared as a chapter in edited books and in refereed journals such as Pensions: An International Journal, and New York State Bar Association Journal. Dr. Gaber is a member of the American Accounting Association and the Institute of Management Accountants.
Dr. Gaber is very active in service to the department, school, and the college as a whole. He has served as a chair and/or a member for more than twenty different committees. His service also includes academic and career advisement to accounting majors.
