Art Therapy Program at SUNY Plattsburgh
Merging Visual Art and Psychology with Helping People
Our Art Therapy Minor at Plattsburgh State offers students in art or psychology the competitive edge for acceptance in a Master's level graduate program in Art Therapy.
Through a sequence of two specially developed courses, Introduction to Art Therapy and Art Therapy Practicum, you can gain the knowledge and hands-on experience graduate schools are looking for.
The Art Therapy minor is open to all students.
The courses for art students have a psychology emphasis (Art Therapy Minor for Art Majors and Art: Studio Minors); courses for students studying psychology have an art emphasis (Art Therapy Minor for Psychology Majors or Minors). This minor is also a great complement to many other majors and minors.
Students are encouraged to speak to the Art Therapy Minor Coordinators Rick Mikkelson or Jeanne Ryan to guide course selection based on their current or intended curriculum.
