This print is from a series of archival inkjet prints called Evidence. The images are adjuncts to the series The Progress Report. This series is far-ranging and less visually cohesive as a body of work but this permits it to draw from even more diverse sources and take on a larger variety of guises from the look of botanical and zoological prints, to the look of more contemporary advertising art. Again hybridity and genetic engineering are part of the picture, as are impossible machines for manufacturing beauty as well as corporate marketing concepts like product placements in outer space.
Tools and Techniques
These pictures were all constructed in Photoshop from diverse source materials combined in many layers, and then after decisions about composition and color have been worked out, flattened and saved as tif files. Some of the animal and machine parts were fabricated in Adobe Illustrator, then brought into Photoshop and combined with old line engravings. The end products are archival inkjet prints.
