Art Faculty - Don Osborn

Professor

Don Osborn has been a member of the Plattsburgh State Art Department since 1985. He received his B.A. degree from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma and later completed his M.F.A. degree at Wichita State University in Kansas. Don teaches 3/D Foundation and all levels of studio sculpture. The program includes a broad range of experiences for students, from bronze casting and welding to fabrication, as well as many other self-directed options.

During the past 15 years, Don has devoted additional time and interest toward the development of the Plattsburgh State Museum/Sculpture Park. He has worked closely with Mr. Edward Brohel, Museum Director, and together, their efforts have been successful. The Sculpture Park was dedicated by Dr. Horace Judson, President of SUNY Plattsburgh, in fall 1999.

Don's personal work has evolved through various mediums in past years. His most recent efforts have been directed toward monumental outdoor sculpture. These works are primarily fabricated in steel. Some exhibitions include the Chicago Navy Pier Exhibit on "Pierwalk '99", St. Davis Western Sculpture Park, Trenton Sculpture Plaza in New Jersey, and a permanent installation at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.
