Clintonville Forge Site Map - Location of Waterwheel Pit
Field Notes:
Found adjacent to a triphammer foundation at the rear central portion of the forge building.
Remains of heavy wooden timbers revealed a 4 1/2 ft. wide pit with 5 inch wide planks for flooring.
The waterwheel drove a heavy triphammer that shaped the iron produced in the bloomery forges.
