This excavation by Mike, Danielle, Ryan and John documented the work area associated with the blacksmith forge. Continuing to excavate below the earthen floor, the students unexpectedly discovered the foundation of an earlier bloomery forge, as seen here in the foreground, that had been dismantled to make way for the blacksmith operations.
