Clintonville Forge Project Virtual Tour - Exit Raceway

Excavating Exit Raceway

This 20 foot excavation revealed the placement and construction of an exit raceway that ran under the floor of the building, taking water from the waterwheels back out to the nearby river. Groundwater seepage had to be pumped out with the help of a small generator so that the still-preserved wooden planks at the bottom of the raceway could be documented.
