Virtual Campus Tour: Ronald B. Stafford Ice ArenaBetter known as "Cardinal Country," the arena is part of the Field House complex and seats 3,500 fans. The Cardinals regularly draw over 2,000 fans per game, more than many Division I teams. A record 4,000 fans were in attendance for a game against Oswego in 1987 and 3,800 fans were in attendance when the Cardinals won the 1991-92 NCAA Division III Ice Hockey National Championship. The ice surface is 185 feet x 85 feet, surrounded by professional-height tempered glass. The arena boasts a state-of-the-art sound system and two elevated press boxes for television, radio, and newspaper coverage. Additionally, within the Field House complex, a luxurious locker room and fully-equipped athletic training facility are easily accessible from the ice. International exhibition matches against teams from Russia and Sweden have been played in front of capacity crowds at the arena. Stafford Ice Arena has also been the host of three NCAA Division III Ice Hockey Championships. |
