Chip Cummings FieldIn 2000, Plattsburgh State reinstated baseball as a varsity sport with the help and support of Chip Cummings '56. The former baseball and basketball player at Plattsburgh State was inducted into the Cardinal Sports Hall of Fame and has generously given back to the College and the athletic department. Chip Cummings Field is one of the finest baseball facilities in the Northeast and is in the process of being upgraded to an even higher standard with the addition of expanded seating, lights, batting cages and improved landscaping. It has become a showcase of excellence for Plattsburgh State athletics and the entire campus. The field is home to the Cardinal baseball team as well as host to numerous high school games and championship competition. The field is also the summer home of the Plattsburgh Thunder, a collegiate summer league team featuring many NCAA Division I players from around the country. Cummings Field is located beyond the Field House and Stafford Ice Arena with a winding access road through a wooded area adjacent to the Field House tennis courts.
