Who Says Women Don't Do Science?
Jenny Winch and Jaime Potter are working on a research project with Dr. Mary Roden-Tice, studying the uplift history of the Adirondacks and New England, preparing for Summer Study at Yale, and learning about themselves in the process. Full story.

There Is No Faking It In Math
"Without tutoring, being a teaching assistant, and giving presentations while I was at Plattsburgh State, I don't think I would have been able to do those things as easily during my first year of grad school. I have also taught my own class twice. For me, being able to stand up in front of an audience was a major accomplishment. Full Story.

The Educational Sun Shines In Odd Places, Sometimes
Under the guidance of Dr. John Lewis and a fellow student, John Porter, Physics major Nathan Miller learned the nuts-and-bolts of physics when he repaired an abandoned TV satellite dish, using it to record daily solar radiation emissions. Full Story.

Nancy Kress: Award-Winning Sci-Fi Author
Kress graduated from Plattsburgh State in 1969 with a degree in education. She taught until 1973 when she got married and started a family. While pregnant with her second child, Kress began to write science fiction stories. Her first story, "The Earth Dwellers," appeared in Galaxy in 1976. Her first novel, The Prince of Morning Bells, was published by Pocket Books in 1981. Full story.

Making a "Boots and Books" Connection With Students
"Outdoor Sport & Culture" (PED 370), an Adirondack Experience 3-credit course with no prerequisites and a million pleasures, allows active outdoor enthusiasts to do what they study. The course is offered Fall and Spring semesters and every wintersession, when Dr. Anneliese Mueller offers "Skiing & Culture" as her version of the changing topic of the seminar. Full Story.
