Student Health Expands Free HIV/STD Testing Hours

The Center for Student Health and Psychological Services will host free HIV and STD testing two afternoons a week, beginning October 17th.

Kevin Colon from the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York has been providing testing and counseling services at the Center once a week since early September.  Due to the overwhelming response to this service, Kevin is expanding his hours to Monday and Friday afternoons, 12-4.

Appointments must be made in person at Student Health.  Urine chlamydia and gonorrhea testing is offered, as well as rapid HIV testing.

Syphilis testing is offered to those at high risk for this infection, including men who have sex with men.  Testing is confidential and easy, so make your appointment today!

HPV Vaccine

The Center for Student Health and Psychological Services has received a limited supply of free HPV vaccine (Gardasil) from the Clinton County Health Department.

The vaccine is available to both male and female SUNY Plattsburgh students between the ages of 19 and 26.

HPV is a virus, and certain genital strains of the virus can cause genital warts, as well as cervical, vaginal, vulvar and anal cancers.  Gardasil helps protect against 4 strains of HPV that cause the majority of genital warts cases and cancers.

Students interested in receiving Gardasil should come to Student Health, Mondays-Wednesdays, 8 am – 11:30 am and Fridays 8:30 am – 11:30 am.

If it is after hours, please go to CVPH emergency room, call University Police at (518) 564-2022, or dial 911.
